Production, Materials, and Responsibility

Where and how something is made has a direct impact on both quality and responsibility. We produce in Europe to stay close to our manufacturing partners. It gives us better insight into the process, helps ensure consistency, and reduces the need for long-distance transport. Just as importantly, it makes it possible to take responsibility for the product as a whole — not only the design.

Material choices follow the same logic. Our metal components are produced by ISO 14001-certified partners, meaning environmental considerations are part of their processes and continuously assessed . Upholstery options include 100% recycled textiles, selected for durability and performance. In some cases, it’s also about using what already exists.

For us, responsibility is less about how things are described, and more about how they are made — consistently, and with attention to detail.

Circularity can be described in many ways, but in practice it often comes down to a few basic principles. If something can be repaired, it should be.
If a component fails, it should be replaced — not the entire product. We offer take-back on older Friis & Moltke furniture, allowing it to be restored and put back into use. Spare parts are available to extend the lifespan of our products, and designs like the FM623 make it possible to separate materials without damaging them
